We decided to enter into a partnership agreement with Net Trans in order to outsource the complex task of hotel commission tracking.  As a result, our generated commission income grew by 75% between 2009 and 2010, and by 13% the following year.  Furthermore, Net Trans pays us our commission in a single consolidated payment each month, and in our local currency too, enabling us to significantly decrease the time allocated to processing back transactions. Net Trans also exposes us to a wealth of data through their web reports that, among many other things, allow us to access detailed, up-to-the-minute information regarding payments of our commission.  It is a true statistical dashboard that we can run and cross with our own data.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Net Trans different from rival commission services?

  •  Net Trans charges the lowest fees
  • Net Trans collects commission from all hotels. Other services collect only from hotels which pay them to do so
  • Net Trans is built by travel agents for travel agents
  • Net Trans generally collects commission in 30-90 days. Others generally collect in 90-180 days

Why is Net Trans the lowest-cost service on the market?

The fee Net Trans charges per additional commission achieved (total cost as a proportion of incremental income) is the lowest available in the market today. Net Trans also consolidates payment from all hotels – including clearinghouse payments - to provide a single point of payment for commission from all sources. High recovery ratios combined with significantly reduced banking and other charges also help make Net Trans the most effective and low-cost service on the market.

What kind of bookings do you collect?

Net Trans handles all electronic bookings entered into the GDS either as a regular GDS booking or a shadow/ghost/passive booking.

What is the cost of the service?

The fee depends on whether your agency is a member of a global travel group with a signed Net Trans consortium agreement, or an Amadeus or Worldspan customer, in which case it is pre-negotiated. If your travel agency is not a member of a global travel group, the fee is negotiated based on volume and other relevant factors.

Which GDSs do you work with?

All of them. Net Trans handles accounting messages (AIR, TAIRs, IUR and MIR messages) from all GDSs using software called the Net Trans Active Connector (NTAC). In addition, Net Trans has signed a global partner solutions agreement with Amadeus and a technology marketing agreement with Worldspan to facilitate direct feed from the GDSs. Agents who sign up to one of these agreement do not need to make an NTAC installation because our software is an integral part of the Amadeus and Worldspan product.

Why do we need to have an IATA/TIDS/ARC number?

For a travel agency to sign up with Net Trans, it is essential that you have a TIDS, IATA or ARC number. The reason is mostly due to the way the hotels identify the travel agencies in their system. A TIDS number is a good alternative for non-IATA agencies and the cost is very reasonable. The order form is downloadable from this website: Iata.org

What is your relationship with hotels?

Net Trans’ operations team constantly follows up with hotel properties to explain what they should do and chase statements and outstanding payments.

How does Net Trans  work with hotels that have a contract with a third party to handle commission?

The actual commission payment flows through various channels. We encourage all hotels, central payment offices and clearing houses to pay through us, but this is not always possible, and some will channel the payment to the travel agency directly. Net Trans has procedures that can clear and reconcile commission/information received through all channels from ALL hotels, chains and clearing houses.
Net Trans has a strategic partnership with Pegasus Solutions, which pays commission on behalf of 40,000 hotels worldwide. Under the terms of the partnership,  Pegasus make just one automated payment per Net Trans agency client on behalf of all its hotel customers. This significantly streamlines the commission process for agents and hotels alike.

How do you follow up unpaid commission?

The operations team calls, faxes and e-mails hotels to request them to reconcile booking information and pay the commission due. Unresolved bookings are never forgotten and are visible in the reports. In the case of hotels which are Pegasus customers, we initially address the problem through Pegasus, but we retain the right to approach the hotel directly if the issue remain unresolved after 30 days.

What do you do when hotels don’t want to pay?

Net Trans can't force the hotels to pay the commission due, nor do we have the authority to take legal action against hotels. What we can do is give you a clear picture of who are the good hotel partners and who are not. You can then discuss the matter directly with the hotel or take your business elsewhere to other hotels

How is my commission paid?

Payment matched before the end of a month is transferred to the customer’s bank account number before the third working day of the following month.

How do I know my money is secure?

All client funds are held in protected client bank accounts with our banking partner. The client accounts are not part of Net Trans’ business operating accounts. For more details, please contact  tasupport@ntrans.com

How do you handle VAT/tax in the process of collection and payments?

Net Trans acts as an intermediary only. We will enable the parties to handle VAT or other sales tax according to rules set by national authorities. In countries where such tax is applicable, domestic bookings will be marked and totals will be specified.
